Itinerary
Day 1 — Into the Heart of the Sahara
Depart Fes in the morning and travel south through the cedar forests of Azrou, the volcanic landscapes of the Middle Atlas, and the sweeping Ziz Valley. Pass through Erfoud and arrive in Merzouga by late afternoon. Check in to your kasbah or hotel, freshen up, and enjoy a traditional dinner as the desert settles into night. Overnight in Merzouga.
Day 2 — A Day Among the Dunes
After breakfast, spend a full day discovering the soul of the Merzouga desert. Visit Khamlia village, home to the Gnawa descendants whose hypnotic music fills the air. Browse the colourful Erressani weekly souk, then follow the trail through the palm oasis before the landscape opens into the golden sea of Erg Chebbi. As the sun drops low, mount your camel and ride into the dunes to your Sahara camp. Dinner and live music under the stars await.
Day 3 — Gorges, Valleys and the Rose Road
Wake to a desert sunrise before departing for the north. Enter the towering walls of Todra Gorges, where sheer 300-metre cliffs frame a narrow river path — one of Morocco’s most spectacular sights. Continue through the scenic Dades Valley and arrive in Boumalen Dades for an overnight stay in a luxury kasbah. Dinner and breakfast included.
Day 4 — Kasbahs, Cinema and the High Atlas
After breakfast, head to Ouarzazate for a visit to the legendary Atlas Film Studios. Continue to the UNESCO-listed Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, an ancient fortified village that has served as a backdrop to some of cinema’s greatest productions. Then cross the High Atlas Mountains via the dramatic Tizi n’Tichka Pass and descend into Marrakech. Drop-off at your accommodation.
