7-Day Desert Adventure to Morocco’s Imperial Cities & Northern Highlights

Arrive at Casablanca airport, where our team will greet you and drive you into the city. Begin your visit with the magnificent Hassan II Mosque, the largest mosque outside Mecca. Continue to Rabat, Morocco’s capital, to explore the Hassan Tower and the historic Oudaya Kasbah. Enjoy an overnight stay in a charming riad located in the heart of Rabat’s Medina.

After breakfast, depart for Chefchaouen, traveling along Morocco’s scenic coastline with a stop in Asilah. Explore the artistic medina, admire the wall murals, and visit the Skalla Fortress for sweeping views of the city and ocean. Drive through Tangier briefly, then continue over the Rif Mountains to the blue-washed streets of Chefchaouen for your overnight stay.

Following breakfast, journey to Fes, known as Morocco’s spiritual capital. Spend the morning wandering the ancient medina, visiting the Al Karaouine Mosque and University, Bou Inania Madrasa, tanneries, and the Najjarine Fountain. After lunch, explore the Royal Palace gate, the historic Mellah (Jewish Quarter), and a local pottery cooperative. End the day with panoramic views of the Medina from one of Fes’s fortresses. Overnight in Fes.

Travel southeast towards Merzouga, passing through Ifrane, often called “the Switzerland of Morocco,” and the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas, home to Barbary apes. Stop in Midelt for lunch, then continue along the scenic Ziz Valley through traditional Berber villages to Erfoud and Rissani, birthplace of Morocco’s Alaouite dynasty. Arrive in Merzouga for a camel trek into the Sahara and spend the night at a desert camp equipped with modern facilities.

Wake up early for a breathtaking sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes, then ride camels back to Merzouga. After breakfast, depart for the Todra Gorges, Morocco’s tallest and narrowest canyon. Continue to the Dades Valley, with optional hikes through Berber villages, photo stops of the famous “monkey toes” rock formations, and a chance to admire ancient kasbahs. Overnight in a hotel overlooking the Dades Valley.

Drive through the scenic Dades Valley, known as the “Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs,” stopping for photos along the way. Visit Kalaa M’Gouna, famous for rose products, and continue to Skoura and the Bird’s Valley, including Kasbah Ameridil. Travel across the High Atlas Mountains to Marrakech, check in to your riad, and enjoy an optional evening stroll in Jemaa El Fna Square, surrounded by storytellers, musicians, and street performers.

Spend the morning exploring Marrakech’s highlights, including Jemaa El Fna Square, Koutoubia Mosque, Saadian Tombs, Bahia Palace, and Majorelle Gardens. Stroll through the new city and admire the Koutoubia tower before being transferred to Casablanca airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your journey.
